Last night was the 13th annual MassTLC Awards Gala at the Seaport Hotel in South Boston. This year’s main honorees included George Hatsopoulos – Founder of Thermo Electron, Jack Wilson – President of University of Massachusetts, Greg Bialecki – Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, and Tim Rowe – Founder of the Cambridge Innovation Center.

All four had captivating speeches from Hatsopoulos’ illegal radio making operations and hilarious immigration story to Secreatary Bialecki’s comment about this being the “second most exiting thing to happen to me this week.”

The new category ‘Product of the Year’ was MassTLC’s first real-time crowdsourced voting attempt, and it worked without a flaw. Throughout the evening audience members had the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidate by a text message, with the top 3 vote-getters having an opportunity to pitch their product at the end.

After the pitches the jeopardy music ensued and a real time tally of test message was displayed on the screen announcing the winner. Well done MassTLC. Check out the full list of winners below.
