Cambridge-based Jumptap, on track to potentially be a billion dollar company, continues to let the world know who’s boss when it comes to mobile advertising. The company announced today securing four new patents from the US Patent Office around improving the targeting and delivery of ads on mobile phones.

Jumptap has shown how important technology is for the success and future of mobile advertising, bringing relevance to mobile ads. This leading mobile ad network serves literally billions and billions of ads every month across a variety of mobile phones. These four newly issued patents bring their total patent count up to ten (with 70 more pending), and works to secure their position as an industry leader among companies like Millennial Media.

“Technology will be a huge differentiator in mobile advertising. As brand marketers become more sophisticated in how they distribute digital campaigns, mobile ad platforms need to anticipate and deliver for them,” said George Bell, CEO of Jumptap. “These patents underscore our commitment to lead in technology and targeting, and will allow brands to be smart in the way they increase their mobile ad spending.”

Bell is a former managing director at the venture capital firm General Catalyst, Jumptap’s lead investor, and joined the company as CEO the end of September 2010. Jumptap has evolved into the go-to partner for digital agencies, publishers, mobile networks, and direct response and brand advertisers alike.
