We love competition, and we know Boston area college students do, too. Klout has emerged as one of the leading social media influence measurement companies today, so we dove into their website to compare exactly how influential each area college is on Twitter.
Here’s a quick breakdown about what each measurement stat means according to Klout (visit their site for an in-depth explanation).
- True Reach: Reach & Demand. The size of your engaged audience based on those of your followers and friends who actively listen and react to your messages (spam and inactive accounts excluded).
- Amplification Probability: Engagement, Velocity & Activity. The likelihood that your messages will generate actions (retweets, @messages, likes and comments).
- Network Influence. How influential your engaged audience is, and how well you can capture the attention of these influentials.
Klout uses over 35 variable to measure these three categories, ultimately running them through their machine-learning analysis to calculate a final Klout Score — a representation of how successful a person is at engaging their audience and how big of an impact their messages have. Thanks to all these area colleges for spreading their news, successes, and updates across social media to keep prospectives, current students, and alums engaged and in the know. If you’re managing any of these college handles, we’d love to hear your approach to social media and success stories!
*Note: MIT, Northeastern and Wentworth do not have a dedicated university/college handles, so we defaulted to their college news handles; the UMass system wide account is less active than each campus so this Klout score is only representative of the UMass Boston campus.
