We are the first to promote new marketing campaigns, which usually involve some amazing digital creativity or leverage technology or social media in ways that truly delight. But some marketing tactics just never get old… Like free giveaways… Or a flash mob of professional athletes.

Tomorrow is Ben & Jerry’s Free Ice Cream Cone day, but Boston’s own Dunkin’ Donuts isn’t looking to get left out of the buzz on their own turf.

The company  has announced “Boston’s Biggest Ticket Giveaway” — and it is slated for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 12th. This new promotion from Dunkin’ is an extension of its “Caught Cold” promotion, ongoing since October, whereby anyone spotted with a Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee on select days can win free tickets to Celtics playoff games, Bruins playoff games, Red Sox home games and even some major concerts here in the Hub.

To kick off the expansion of Caught Cold, Dunkin’ is giving away a whopping $25,000 worth of tickets tomorrow. Between 8am and 9am you can grab yourself a free cup of Iced Coffee outside of the Garden on Causeway Street. Then at 9am and for a full hour, a caravan of vehicles and members of the Bruins, Celtics and Sox will roam Boston’s streets finding people enjoying that good Dunkin’ iced coffee and handing them free tickets. On top of this, at 10am, one lucky Dunkin’ Donuts location and every customer inside will enjoy more than just free tickets: they’ll get face time with a flash mob of some of Boston’s most beloved professional athletes.

Curious what days of the week you should be buying a Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee in hopes of getting “Caught Cold” and winning free tickets (aside from tomorrow, of course)? Bruins and Celtics giveaways will continue through the playoffs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively. Red Sox tickets will be given out every Wednesday. And on select Fridays, tickets to the most popular Boston concerts will be given out.

So, which location is going to be flash mobbed at 10am, Boston? We’re thinking the recently renovated location in Chinatown might be a good choice — but then again, it’s Chinatown so it might be a little difficult for that caravan of vehicles to get to.
