Whether you’re thinking about taking a vacation or simply in need of one, exploring the new Jetsetter iPad app will be enough to make you actually book it.

The company behind the app, luxury online flash boutique company Gilt Groupe, is known for being content artists — even casting things like dental work in a calming and desirable light. Jetsetter is the travel arm of the company, and the iPad (and its demographic) is a perfect device to take advantage of the company’s visual-centric daily flash vacation sales.

The iPad app provides even more opportunities than Jetsetter’s image heavy website to visually take in and truly get a feel for the hotel and the vacation you can expect. Also taking advantage of that Apple screen, a 360 degree view feature takes over the screen allowing you to turn and experience several featured vacations in more dimensions. Other features allow you to view nearby attractions around a given vacation, property details, rates, and of course the option to book the trip and make a purchase.

Vacations are presented and organized from basic city specific guides (check out screenshots from The Langham in Boston’s Jetsetter feature below) to themes and lists like ‘Vacation Like Royalty.’ Each main vacation page is set up for both the scroller who wants to take in the feel of the vacation quickly (photos, ‘what we love’ and ‘what to know’ bullet points, type of vacation, etc.) to the more intrigued who want to read a full fledged review that tells a story and paints a picture about what to expect, experience and enjoy at the location.

Gilt Groupe already has an iPhone app for its Gilt, Gilt City (including Gilt City Boston enjoyed by many here in the Hub), and Jetsetter divisions – and its iPad app certainly pushes the bar even higher in extending experience in delivering beautiful iOS experiences.

The company that helped initially set off the trend in group buying and online flash boutique sales seems to be continuing to innovate and set a precedent, now in the mobile space.
