Which Boston VC Firm Has the Most Klout?

Many individual partners and associates at venture capital firms are active on Twitter, offering news, opinions and otherwise showcasing their sector expertise and personalities. In doing so they promote the venture capital firm they represent, which acts as inbound marketing and encourages deal flow for the firm.

We are now seeing VC firms as entities themselves leveraging social media in an effort to attract talent, brand their firms, expand their reach and visibility, and offer thought leadership. The personality offered over Twitter for Dave McClure’s 500 Startups seed fund is a well-known example of this. Here in Boston, as examples, Highland Capital regularly shares job opportunities open at their portfolio companies and Spark Capital shares news and thought leadership related to the industries it invests in.

We used Klout, the service that has positioned itself as one of the winners in the online influence scoring space, to learn which Boston VC firms were leveraging Twitter best. We pulled Klout scores for fifteen VC firms in the area, including firms with partners who made Forbes’ 2011 Midas List of top tech investors as well as the top ranked Boston VC firms on TheFunded.com.
