Just as the ink on Apple’s injunction of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 dried, Google’s, Nexus 7 tablet was leaked just before its unveiling at their annual I/O conference. This tablet looks to add to the already scorching competition in the tablet market. This marks the first leap by the search engine giant into the tablet pool.

Google is taking pre-orders now and will ship the Nexus 7 in the next two weeks.

Photos of the 7-inch Nexus 7 were leaked onto Google’s Play Store servers within an hour of the announcement. Training documents were also leaked, giving the public a pre-preview of the specs the tablet boasts.  As for aesthetics, Nexus looks pretty unoriginal. The ASUS-built gadget features Nexus branding on the back. The user interface follows the same pattern as most tablets by placing the toolbar and icons along the bottom of the screen. Google throws a little of their own personal flare in there by featuring Play Store, Google+ and YouTube among the icons. The specs highlight a quad-core processor with 1GB of ram accompanied by 8 or 16GB of storage, depending on the user’s preference. The screen is a 1280×800 HD display containing a pixel density of 216 pixels per inch. Sitting just about the screen is a 1.2 megapixel camera to be used for professional or personal video conferencing. The batter life tops out at 8 hours, and Bluetooth and Wi/Fi go without saying. All of this is packed into 10.45 mm of thickness.

The good news for you is that the tablet looks to aim to compete with the Amazon’s Kindle Fire, meaning affordability. The 8GB will be priced at $199 while the 16GB is a little richer going for $249. More good news is that each tablet comes with $25 credit to Google Play Store. Even better good news is that the quality of the screens, processor, and cameras all but ensures user satisfaction in viewing vids, playing games, and simply surfing the web.
