Mobile app testing company uTest announced this morning the acquisition of Apphance, a mobile app quality tool, from its parent company Polidea, a Polish firm.

The deal was for seven figures in cash and equity, according to a release. uTest takes on both Apphance’s IP as well as its staff and will now offer the tool as part of its mobile app testing services.

“This acquisition is a giant step forward in the growth of uTest,” said Doron Reuveni, CEO of uTest, in the release. “By adding Apphance to our in-the-wild testing services, we’ve dramatically increased our value to customers and extended our position as an all-in-one testing solution for mobile developers around the world.”

uTest allows mobile app developers to do “in the wild” testing on real devices with real users via crowdsourcing. Apphance’s testing tools will complement uTest’s in the wild services through the provision of crash reporting, bug reporting and user feedback.

Since its founding in 2007, uTest has raised $37 million including, most recently, a $17 million Series D in December 2011. This is the company’s first acquisition activity.
