The 15 Colleges Dishing Out the Best Grub in New England

Colleges couldn’t let the city’s restaurants be the only ones delivering the best dishes in Boston. “All Things Food & Drink” site, The Daily Meal, has ranked the country’s campus cuisine, releasing a list of the “52 Best Colleges For Food in America”—several of which are right here in the Hub.

Tufts took the top spot locally, nabbing sixth place. The University was recognized for their local and sustainability movements and Farmers’ Market, although it can’t hurt that they’re serving up butternut squash bisque, bourbon baked ham and quiche Lorraine on the regular, as well.

UMass Amherst came in a close second, taking the seventh spot on the list with their pork carnitas with raisin and poblano cream and gold rush tomato fennel soup. Fun fact from The Daily Meal? Parents can eat for free with their children in the dining hall, as long as those students are on the meal plan.

The Daily Meal says they examined more than 2,000 four-year college dining programs, pulling from various outside sources, including college dining services awards, Princeton Review lists and several news stories. They also took into account unsanitary conditions or health code violations, lack of variety, sustainability, accessibility, events and overall levels of healthiness when narrowing down the schools.

Below are the rest of the New England colleges that made the list. Hint: Anyone looking to dining hall hop around Boston need to check out the University behind one of our favorite social media accounts.
