Faison, not rolling burritos

How often have you marveled at the Anna’s Taqueria’s employees? You hungrily stare at them behind the glass, amazed at how rapidly they whip together your burrito, remembering every ingredient with ease, and delivering you a perfectly wrapped tortilla stuffed with love, joy and black beans. These Spoon Ninjas are truly the celebrities in your burrito-loving world.

Anna’s Taqueria, however, is upping the ante this year, putting even bigger celebrities behind the counter. Tonight marks the first of Anna’s Celebrity Burrito Roller series, which enlists local celebrites to make your ‘ritos, all in the name of charity.

This month’s celebrity roller is former Top Chef contender and Sweet Cheeks Q owner Tiffani Faison. Faison will jump in with the Spoon Ninjas to create your made-to-order burritos.

That burrito, rolled by the hands of Boston’s queen of barbeque herself, will cost you a cool $10, all of which will go toward MassEquality, Faison’s charity of choice. MassEquality works to end discrimination and oppression based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in the Bay State.

While Faison wasn’t available for comment, she did tweet this:

You heard her, people — get out there! Faison will be at the Harvard Street Anna’s Taqueria location in Brookline from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening.

The Celebrity Roller Series will continue throughout 2013. Next month, Jonathan Soroff of The Improper Bostonian will roll for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation. In March, A.J. Soares of the New England Revolution rolls for the Boston Children’s Hospital, and in April, Henry Santoro of Radio BDC rolls for the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund. Stay tuned for the remainder of 2013!
