HTC has a big product event coming up on Tuesday, February 19, and the company has already offered some hints as to what it will be releasing. The new phone appears to be named the HTC One (previously known as the M7), but beyond that very little is known about the phone. The HTC product event will take place in New York and the event start time is 11am EST on Tuesday. You can get a sense of what HTC has leaked about the new HTC One phone below:

This is a big moment for HTC, as TechCrunch notes:

So why is HTC showing off so much ahead of time? Basically, because that’s what you do when you need to generate a lot of early hype, and that’s exactly what HTC needs right now. The company has always been among the top Android OEMs in terms of quality, in my opinion, but as its recent financial results prove, that has failed to help it really catch fire in the U.S. market.

There’s another word for that problem, and it’s “Samsung.” Take a look at the graph below, via BGR:

Samsung’s dominance has to a significant extent been at HTC’s expense. So the pressure is on with every new release for HTC to reverse this trend. Can the HTC One do that? Your guess is as good as mine, and given how little we know so far about the device, there’s just not much to go on. One thing is for sure: Samsung is a formidable competitor, having emerged as the key Apple rival in the premium smartphone market.
