Walgreens is opening a new Boston store of epic proportions this week. Located in the building formerly occupied by Borders, the flagship store will take up 25,000-square-feet of space and is set for a Wednesday, May 1st opening.

But this isn’t any old drugstore. Oh, no. The new Walgreens is like a pharmacy on steroids. Not only does it have shelves stacked high with essentials like candy, toilet paper and cough drops, it also boasts freshly prepared food, a huge cosmetics section and groceries.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here are eight more reasons to get pumped for the pumped up Walgreens.

It will be open 24-hours. For those late-night and early morning needs.

Come in for paper towels, walk out with lunch. The store will offer grab-and-go wraps, sandwiches and salads made fresh daily. There will also be grocery items and a frozen food section.

Or, go raw at the sushi and sashimi bar. Getting fish from a drugstore may seem strange, but don’t knock it ‘til you try it.

Juice is all the rage, and the new Walgreens boasts a juice and smoothie bar to help you achieve your daily intake of fresh fruit.

Because you can never have enough fro-yo, there will be self-service frozen yogurt dispensers inside the Walgreens, allowing patrons to load up on treats while getting their prescriptions filled.

There is a beer and wine section. That awesomeness is self-explanatory.

Get your nails did. Walgreens’ cosmetic section – Look Boutique – will have eyebrow and nail technicians on hand to spruce up your appearance. It will also be stocked with cosmetics, skin and haircare products.

The store comes stocked with a food truck. The Walgreens “Up Market Fresh” truck will be on hand Monday and Tuesday, serving up free juices, smoothies and other goods to show people the awesomeness of what’s to come inside the store.

You can check the store out for yourself on May 1.
