Back in November I wrote about AisleBuyer founder Andrew Paradise’s new company, Lookout Gaming. The firm – which has since dropped that name – raised $1.25 million, but it wasn’t clear what they were working on. Now we know.

Yesterday, Paradise announced the launch of the company, now called Skillz, as a mobile gaming and betting platform.

“While mobile gaming continues to boom, game developers need innovative, yet complementary ways to monetize their content. 80 percent of mobile games revenue went to the top twenty development studios last year,” said Paradise, in a release. “Tournaments take mobile gaming to the next level by enhancing gameplay, making it more social and fun as players compete against each other. For developers, competitions translate into longer sessions, better user retention and increased revenue.”

If you’re building a mobile game, Skillz lets you integrate cash tournaments using its SDK. (The company is aptly named to make clear that these are skill-based games only, meaning not gambling.)

Skillz is currently in beta for Android only, and the cash tourney platform is available for 36 states.
