The suspense for the Nokia Lumia 928 is finally over as the Finnish telecom company announced the availability for its flagship smartphone and the official Nokia Lumia 928 release date. Verizon will be the first to carry the much-anticipated Lumia 928 and it will hit the retail shelves on May 16 for an affordable $99.99 (with $50 mail in rebate) along with a two-year service agreement.

Now that the Lumia 928 has been announced and the speculation can be put to rest, here’s what the Windows 8 handset has to offer. Most of Nokia’s marketing efforts have been put towards introducing its new imaging technology as utterly unparalleled, which it is. Its patented PureView camera with Carl Zeiss lens, xenon flash, and optical imaging stabilization easily puts the Lumia 928 ahead of the pack in terms of photo clarity for on-the-move snapshots and crystalline video footage, especially in low-light situations.

The video below also makes mention of three new high-audio-amplitude-capture (HAAC) microphones and a loudspeaker that supposedly will go as high as 140db. Translation? Users get the cleanest audio sound possible, even if you’re sitting next to a rocket launch.

The OLED display is 4.5-inches of edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass. Under the hood you’ll find a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor running the show, a 2,000mAH battery, and 32GB of storage. Engadget notes that “contactless charging and NFC are both built in, as are all those extra Nokia software additions, including Here maps and Nokia Music.” Available to buyers is $25 of credit for Windows Phone apps and games.

Who out there is ready to camp out in front of their local Verizon store to get this device? Is the PureView camera enough to lure you away from the likes of Apple and Samsung? What about that $25 credit for Windows apps and games? Let us know your thoughts on the   Nokia Lumia 928 and how it will fare against the iPhones and Galaxy S series out there.
