Like many other B’s fans, I’m growing out my playoff beard in solidarity with the team. No matter how unkempt, I won’t so much as look at a razor until the final horn sounds on the Bruins’ season. In the latest edition of the Bruins’ web series “Bruins :30,” Brad Marchand provides fans with some crucial playoff beard cultivation and maintenance tips.

“Three big things that you have to remember to do. You have to comb it daily. Number two, I’d have to say, you have to stroke it,” said Marchand, who then demonstrated his technique.

“So this would be a bit of a stroke. Nice and gentle. And three, just make sure you grow it out right. No trimming. Au naturale.”

Despite Marchand’s techniques, there are playoffs beards for more impressive than his on the roster. Chara’s already reaching 2011 levels, while the always dapper Patrice Bergeron rocks some serious growth with a three-piece suit.

Regardless, anything beats Sidney Crosby’s crustasche.

It’s like I can smell the musty basement and Spaghetti-O’s fumes.
