With the Nexus 7 release date just days away, new leaked photos of the Nexus 7 tablet before the launch event have emerged. A snapshot obtained by leak twitter handle extraordinaire @evleaks depicts the flagship tablet by Google’s press shot out in the wild, which can only mean that Google’s July 24 launch event is set to unveil the next-generation Nexus.

Even with the leaked photos and the press shot, Google has yet to confirm the tablet’s debut in two days. However, the invitation dispatched for the event called for breakfast with Sundar Pichai, who just happens to be Google’s VP Android, Chrome and Google Apps, three critical components sure to be found in the Nexus.

While the leaked photo above doesn’t do much, if anything, to confirm rumored specs, functions, or features, the press shot does allude to a 1920 x 1200 resolution display as well as the option for 16GB of internal storage, who aspects that have been stuck in the rumor mill for a while. Further, the screen is thought to be a 7-inch LCD display.

Underneath the hood the popular tablet will most likely run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor along with what Android Central assumes will be somewhere between 2GB of RAM and an impressive 4GB. It’s purported that the next-gen Nexus will also have microUSB support for increased storage and memory.

It’ll probably be outfitted with Google’s 4.3 version of Android per the photo’s an underlining notification LED, which has been speculated to be released with minor updates in the near future, and include features like NFC capabilities a 4000mAh battery with QI wireless charging.

As for price, the press render slaps 16GB variant of the device with a $229 price tag, an affordable $40 less than the supposed $269 for 32GB worth of storage.

According to Engadget, “Phone Arena says the leaked ad is scheduled to run next week, placing the circular’s promised Tuesday availability for the Nexus 7 on July 30th.”

An interesting thing to keep an eye on with the upcoming event is the possibility of Google putting its highly-anticipated Google Glass on display. Reuters published a report this morning that the search engine mammoth recently purchased a 6.3% stake in Himax Technologies, the manufacturer who produces liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) chips and modules, tiny devices used to project images in, for example, eyewear like Google Glass.

The funding will help ramp up production no doubt, but also hints at an imminent launch. Glass was thought to make its debut back at the annual Google I/O but didn’t to the chagrin of many in attendance.

Stay tuned to BostInno for the latest Nexus 7 developments as the event is right around the corner and more leaks are sure to come.
