The iPhone 5S release date is quickly closing in and alongside it, the low-cost iPhone is set to launch as well. Over the weekend though, a new photo emerged of the low-cost iPhone’s retail package giving those eagerly awaiting even the slightest idea of the purported size and shape of the next-generation, budget-friendly iPhone.

The most intriguing aspect of the case is the conspicuous branding. The case is clearly labeled ‘iPhone 5C’ in contrast to what many have been calling along the likes of low-cost iPhone, iPhone Lite, or Budget iPhone. Apple fan sites like Apple Insider and Mac Rumors are under the impression the ‘C’ logo could simply stand for ‘Color’ as a number of leaked photos of the alleged affordable handset blatantly show a wide spectrum of colorful plastic shells.

There’s been no direct mention as to the actual release date, specs, or price of the supposed low-cost iPhone, but KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo believes Apple’s budget smartphone will be priced between $349 and $559, and will launch even before the next-gen flagship iPhone 5S, the release date of which was pushed for late September.

Just last week similar snapshots of the low-cost iPhone surfaced, depicting the rear plastic shell only this time bearing the necessary from the FCC, as well as other assorted other certifications, making it more likely than not that Apple is swiftly gearing up for an imminent product launch and that the launch is for the low-cost iPhone.

As mentioned, very little is known in terms of specs for the low-cost iPhone or even the iPhone 5S at this point, but many are looking for the 5S at least to include a fingerprint sensor, likely more for security and authentication purposes, to be embedded within the display. Patent photos and a number of supply chain testimonies have suggested as much, leading users salivating at the idea of a fresh, brand new take on the iPhone.
