The November Xbox One release is just around the corner but in the meantime, Microsoft recently announced plans for another press event to promote its Xbox One gaming console. The highly anticipated next-generation entertainment hub has been making waves since Microsoft debuted it a a reveal event back in May, and now by solidifying a new press event the Xbox One will have another leg to stand on during its perpetual war against rival Sony’s PlayStation 4.

The event in question is Gamescon, a gaming showcase to be held in Cologne, Germany beginning on August 20 and running through August 25. Microsoft was strikingly absent from the event last year so needless to say, it has some making up to do.

Late last week, Xbox One honchos announced that their all-in-one platform would come equipped with an internal developers kit essentially affording any user the opportunity to create and publish their own indie video games. PlayStation 4 developer kits go for a reported $2,500 per.

As for what the Xbox One will display, we’re expecting the rest of the 15-game lineup that was promised at the reveal event earlier this year. Of those, eight are expected to be completely brand new franchises while the rest will build upon their respective series predecessors, like the ever-popular Call of Duty installments.

We know a lot about the Xbox One at this point, though Microsoft surely has plenty left to surprise the Xbox faithful with. It was only yesterday, after all, that Microsoft released the price points and some technical details on its motion-sensing Kinect gaming controller.

Expected to make appearances at Gamescon alongside the Xbox One are Nintendo and Sony, though IGN didn’t mention what those two companies will be showcasing. Nintendo is likely to demo a collection of new games with old takes but Sony is probable to convey the same showmanship expected of Microsoft’s Xbox One with its own PS4.
