At Comic Con, cast and crew members Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin, as well as producer Bob Orci and director Gavin Hood were all in San Diego for a Q&A panel and showing of the then-latest trailer.

The plot of the movie is based off the novel. Set in the not-so-distant future, a mysterious alien race has attacked Earth and ravaged its inhabitants. To prepare for the next assault, humans begin training the best students to find their future leader and one willing to carry the torch of the human race. Ender Wiggin (Butterfield), a shy but brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite Command School by Colonel Hyrum Graff (Ford), where he quickly distinguishes himself in training, becoming a prime candidate to lead his fellow soldiers against the impending alien coercion.

The film itself looks to be full of eye-popping special effects, plenty of plot twists, and could do justice to the much-celebrated and highly-touted novel. Hood previously directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine, proving that he can direct his fair share of high-budget action movies. The budget for Ender’s Game is reportedly $110 million.

The book is so good that a BostInno commenter literally told me “How good is the book? Dude. Drop what you are doing and get a copy right now! Seriously. I’ll wait.”
