The PlayStation 4 release date and specs have finally been confirmed, though a new report says rival Xbox One console will be more powerful. The report could tip the scales in the perpetual battle between the two consoles and their respective manufacturers, Sony and Microsoft, as each have been vigorously compared to the other in hopes of becoming the world’s number one all-inclusive entertainment console.

According to Developer Tech, the reasoning behind the Xbox One’s superiority is due, in most part, to the cloud. The article reads, “Very few people have grasped the importance of over 300,000 dedicated servers; working to provide an optimal gaming experience. Whether reducing the CPU load on your console to increase graphics, scale masses of enemies, or power the evolving AI’s found in Forza 4 – this isn’t possible from Sony.”

So what exactly does this mean?

It means that when two gamers, one rocking PS4’s DualShock 4 controller and the other Xbox One’s wireless controller, compete in expansive online games like the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts, the one whose gameplay lags the most is likely to lose first. And said lagging is due to an inferior arsenal of servers on the manufacturer’s part.

Sorry, formerly optimistic PlayStation 4 gamer.

As if to add insult to injury, Microsoft recently upped the graphical processing power of its next-generation console augmenting the GPU speed from a measly 800MHz to a blistering 853MHz, an increase of a respectable 6.5%.

An aspecting of gaming as paltry as a less-than-one-second lag could have substantial implications for those who take virtual reality more seriously than, say, me. But, for those who feel that paying an extra money for the One isn’t worth the added seamlessness offered by its sweeping servers.

The PS4 is scheduled for a November 15 launch at $399 while the Xbox One will launch in November at $499 and include a free copy of FIFA 14 for those in Europe who pre-order the console. There is no specific date for the Xbox One as of yet.
