According to a report from Fox 25, Boston Celtics power forward (and 2012 first-round draft choice) Jared Sullinger was arrested earlier this morning. The report came out earlier today.

Sullinger, who proved himself proficient on the court with the team last season before succumbing to a season-ending injury, turned himself in to authorities at approximately 6 am Tuesday morning, according to police. The charges that Sullinger is receiving are assault and battery, witness intimidation after the incident (which also involved malicious destruction of property).

He will appear in court later today.

The incident occurred this past Saturday, August 31st.

In his first season in the NBA following his departure from Ohio State University to enter the NBA draft, Sullinger averaged 6 points per game, and 5.9 rebounds per game. The 21-year-old eventually had to sit for the rest of the year after he had back surgery.

Celtics management, including first-year head coach Brad Stevens, are expecting big things from Sullinger this year, provided his off-the-court activities don’t interfere.
