Fox 25 says that the exact cost of Bulger’s defense is $2,424,408.26. That figure represents costs over a two year period between June 2011 and June 2013. Defense attorneys have yet to submit a voucher for July and August 2013.
Reports from WBZ indicate that the total cost of Bulger’s defense exceeds $2.6 million, when other services are factored in.
Roughly $2.4 million is just lawyers’ fees. The rest is everything from paralegals to transcript fees to photocopies. #bulger #wbz

Excluding attorney fees, the bill includes cost of:
- $62,135.26 for Investigative Services;
- $1,850.87 for Computer Hardware/Software;
- $139,098.30 for Paralegal Services;
- $1,509.88 for Duplication Services;
- $3,372.50 for Computer Forensics;
- $2,798.15 for Other Experts; and
- $36,158.55 for Transcript Costs
Those fees were included in a memorandum sent to US District Judge Denise J. Casper on Tuesday, September 10. The memorandum also indicates a grand total cost of $2,671,331.77 for Bulger’s representation.
Henry Brennan and J.W. Carney Jr. served as Bulger’s attorney’s during his two-year trial.
A federal jury found Bulger guilty on 31 of 32 counts and held him accountable for the murder of 11 people. The 83-year old former mob-boss faces a maximum sentence of up to life plus 30 years in prison.
