It’s no secret that the new iPhone 5S is a financial victory for Apple so it’s no surprise that other rival smartphone makers would try to emulate that success. In typical Samsung fashion, the South Korean electronics manufacturer will be releasing a gold Galaxy S4 version of its flagship smartphone in hopes of trying to post similar record sales numbers that Apple boasted over its 5S and iPhone 5C launch weekend.

Samsung hasn’t been very discrete as of late in trying to copy Apple’s iPhone 5S. Most recently, gossip suggests that Samsung is gearing up to release a metallic Galaxy S5 next year, likely an attempt to counter Apple’s signature anodized aluminum casing people love so much.

As far as confirmed rumors are concerned, the company announced that it would be creating its own 64-bit processing chip, something Apple did with its next-gen A7 chip, the first of it’s kind. It’s also not so much of a coincidence that Samsung rushed a smartwatch into production perhaps after catching wind of rumors that Apple was developing a similar technical timepiece unofficially dubbed the iWatch.

The Verge took note of Samsung’s SamsungMobileArabia Twitter handle this morning to find it offering a gold and brown, as well as gold and pink version of the GS4. It has yet to be disclosed whether this new device will be available in the States anytime soon, with The Verge noting bluntly “It’s doubtful that these handsets will make it to a global distribution.”

The GS4 has proven to be a most formidable of smartphones in a market sodden with high-end devices. It’s chief rival, though, is of course the iPhone 5S, and even lower-cost iPhone 5C, as both adversarial handsets could be described as market-setting smartphones.

It’ll be interesting to see if and how Samsung plans to move forward with its plans for a gold GS4 and whether it will be made available to more competitive markets like here in the U.S. Stay tuned to BostInno for the latest gold GS4 information and other Samsung rumors but in the meantime, let us know what you think of a gold Galaxy S4 variant and whether or not you’d buy one.
