Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, a man fell onto the tracks at North Station, according to MBTA officials, who later posted the scene on YouTube, as seen above.

It appears the man approached the ledge to look for an oncoming train. Once he fell, the man appeared to have hit his head on the the metal track furthest away from the ledge.

Boston magazine reports that MBTA officials said the man was never in danger of being hit by an oncoming train. The report adds that an MBTA employee who witnessed the event notified the Orange Line dispatcher, and nearby trains were immediately stopped.

The passenger was laying motionless in the middle of the track for a few moments before onlookers hopped down to rescue him. Another passenger leapt from the opposite platform, ran toward the man and proceeded to help before carrying on with his day.

About 20 seconds into the video, blue lights are seen flashing in the station.

This was a close call. Hopefully the guy is alright. Remember: stay safe.
