It’s National Coffee Day. Yes, another unassuming date on the calendar, another random holiday assigned to a food or beverage. This one seems extra arbitrary, not because of the coffee itself per se, but in my world, basically every day could be National Coffee Day. In fact, I think a National “Try Not To Drink Coffee For The Sake Of Your Health/Sanity” Day would be a lot more beneficial. But what kind of headline would that be?

So, here we are on National Coffee Day, with a world of specialty brews and beans and pours in front of us. And yet, it’s also Sunday morning, meaning you might just want to make this easy on yourself—the less thought and effort, the better. Perhaps your attitude will change post-coffee, but that seems like some sort of catch-22.

Safely assuming there’s at least one within a nearby radius to where you are right now, good ol’ Dunkin Donuts is on hand to serve up special promos in honor of this special coffee day. Sure, those faux ‘baristas’ may cream their iced coffees so heavily that they turn white, and you may have fallen victim to a strawful of sugary grit on more than one occasion. But, unless you’re a person with standards of steel, you’ve likely found yourself wandering toward those pink-and-orange double Ds even after swearing off their weak excuses for coffee. What can we say? Here in Boston, it’s just a way of life.

And in honor of National Coffee Day, Dunkin’ is looking to give a little lovin’ back to their loyal customers. Today, you can receive a free small hot or iced coffee (hold the cream) from participating stores. The only catch: you download the DD mobile app (free of charge) first, and once there, access the promo through the ‘My Offers’ tab.

In addition to a free cup of morning happiness, guests can also get in-store discounts on specialty Dunkin’ Donuts K-Cups, which you should take advantage of. I’m not at that point in my life where a Keurig belongs in my kitchen, but I hear those things are expensive.

Happy National Keep-Drinking-Coffee Day, and keep running on Dunkin’, Boston.
