It’s called the WildCat and it can run up to 16 mph. This means it can run about twice as fast as the average person and it never gets tired. As you can see in the video below, particularly in the slow-motion shots, the robot resembles a horse more than a cat. It even stamps its ‘feet’ in anticipation of taking off. But let’s be honest, you’re not going to care what animal its leg movement replicates if you ever find yourself being chased by one.

This video was posted only a few days ago and shows the WildCat, equipped with a roll cage and running on a 2-stroke go-kart engine, coupled with a hydraulic pump.

Bostinno has covered Boston Dynamic’s robots in the past, including the “Cheetah,” which clocked in a top speed of 28 mph, but it wasn’t wireless and couldn’t support its own weight. The WildCat is the fastest autonomous robot out of Boston Dynamics and was funded by DARPA‘s M3 program.

As you will see, the WildCat is equal parts awesome and terrifying. Bostinno is not liable if this video gives you nightmares.
