There’s a number of decisions to make on Election Day in Boston. When you step in line to cast your vote, where you stand on prevalent issues surrounding the election is likely swirling in your head. Sorting out the ones that matter the most to you — be it education, technology and innovation, neighborhood development, etc. — is the next step. Then, you land on the one candidate that best suits your beliefs. Never mind that you already made sure you were registered and found which polling place matches your current address.

The last thing you should have to worry about, then, is how to get yourself to the polls.

So don’t let a lack of transportation — or, heaven forbid, laziness — keep you from making your voice heard in today’s historic election. This is the first time in 20 years that our mayor won’t be Tom Menino, and you’ll want to say you took a part in forging the future of your generation. You won’t want to say, of course, that you didn’t feel like taking the bus because you didn’t have any money on your T card and it was cold out so you didn’t vote.

In honor of helping Boston #flockthevote, our neighborhood taxi services, Uber and Hailo, are both offering special Election Day deals, so you have no reason not to make it to your polling place at some point today.

If you choose Uber, you’ll have to be able to vote between 12 and 2 p.m. today. The app is offering free car rides (not valid for taxi rides) in that two-hour block; all you have to do is sign up for Uber, if you haven’t already, and use the promo code bospolls13 (the offer is still available for existing users). The offer has a maximum limit of $20, but chances are your local polling place isn’t that much of a trek from where you live.

And with Hailo, you’ll receive $10 off your taxi ride (which is usually cheaper than an Uber car) when you sign up for Hailo and enter the promo code VOTE2013. This promotion is also available for existing Hailo users, and can be redeemed at any point today, until the polls close at 8 p.m.

With the election currently too close to call between Marty Walsh and John Connolly, it’s important to get our there and make your choice known.
