Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination. After spending just 1,000 days in office, America’s youngest president, who has gone on to become perhaps one of the most iconic personalities in the country’s history, had his term, and life, cut too short.

Born in Brookline, Kennedy graduated from Harvard, served as a Massachusetts senator, and spent a good portion of his vacation time in Hyannis Port, Mass., sailing on the Honey Fitz, named after his grandfather. JFK was a New England-bred man, and there are the iconic pictures to prove it.

We gathered some of the best pictures of JFK’s time spent in the state, from his earliest days in Brookline, to his days at Harvard, to his vacations in Hyannis Port. With 50 years separating us from the day Kennedy was shot and killed, his legacy is represented through these still frames, as he grew into the president we remember now. And one thing’s for sure: he certainly looked good doing so.
