I can’t lie – when it comes to barbecue, I’m kind of obsessed in a really hoggish can’t-believe-I-just-ate-everything kind of way. Maybe it’s my gluttonous southern roots (of which I am still proud) or the many different and delicious sauces that accompany barbecue, but one thing’s for sure – nothing makes me happier than a plateful of pulled pork. And I know that I’m not alone in my barbecue fanaticism. Fortunately, Boston has a good range of barbecue restaurant options – one of which is set to (finally) reopen: Smoken Joe’s.

The barbecue and blues spot in Brighton will be reopening this Friday, December 13, according to the restaurant’s Facebook. In case you weren’t aware, the popular barbecue spot was forced to close in late October due to construction and water main damage.

Eater Boston reported that Smoken’ Joe’s announced plans to reopen this Friday. It also seems that the restaurant owners have been using Facebook to express their frustrations with their landlord. The BBQ joint’s Facebook page contains several posts recounting the owners’ difficulties working with their landlord.

It seems to have been a bit of a battle, but yesterday at 3:30 p.m., the restaurant announced via Facebook:

“We plan to open on Friday night with the Peter Ward Band. We will have Cheryl Arena with an Allstar Band on Saturday night, and Geoff Bartley on Sunday. From there on it will be business as usual.”

So there you have it – ”business as usual” starting this Friday night. The restaurant serves up pulled pork, brisket, ribs and a wide-array of southern-style food. Not to mention, live music seven nights a week.

So plan your Friday night accordingly, if you’re a Boston barbecue lover. And help to celebrate the return of this smoken’ good restaurant.
