It’s hard not to notice the misshapen heap of concrete that stands over Government Center we call City Hall. It’s the cerebral center of Boston, the host of the Mayor’s office and that of the City Council. It’s where decisions are made on a daily basis to the benefit of the city and its residents. But have you ever wondered what it’s like to be inside?

Sure it seems as if the exterior was built out of some illogical, drunken escapade. Believe it or not, though, there’s a specific purpose and design to the layout of City Hall, one that is not easily determined by those who tread past it on a daily basis.

The City of Boston recently released a video which details exactly that, the navigability of the building. It sheds significant insight on the architecture’s initial vision, how city officials currently use the working space, and, perhaps most importantly, how to get from one side of the structure to the other. Because it’s not as easy as you might think.

So check out the video below and get a behind the scenes tour of City Hall in just four quick minutes.
