Last night, knives were flying (note: exaggeration) as 3 Boston chefs battled it out for the coveted title of King or Queen of the popular food trend, Tapas. The small plated cuisine continues to dominate restaurants and kitchens throughout Boston and the U.S. And last night, the kitchen of Tremont 647 was no exception.

Guests were invited to taste and judge the tapas for themselves as the Boston chefs prepared tapas dishes for three categories: vegetarian, shrimp, and beef. The chefs included: Owner of Tremont 647 and former Hell’s Kitchen contestant, Andy Husbands; Chef Meghann Ward of Coppa; and reigning “Tapas Queen,” Chef Karen Akunowicz of Myers+Chang.

The evening started out with a Sangria reception and appetizers for guests – as each chef competed to complete their dishes. After each round (category), the dishes were judged based on taste, creativity, and presentation.

In the end, Chef Andy Husbands beat his competitors and took back the crown as King of Tapas. But enough with the fluff – check out the pictures below to see the Tapas Challenge for yourself.
