When it comes to road races, it’s no surprise that us Bostonians like to take it to the next level. We are a competitive breed that takes pride in our ability to bear crawl under barbed wire and fully submerge in swampy waters.

So as the snow falls, the temps plunge, and you’re feeling increasingly cooped up, why not register for one of the following races to gain motivation? Get out from behind your desk and start practicing those log carries. Yup. Log carries. Your training starts now!

To that end, there are a plethora of adventure races to take part in this year. From an all night military-style march through the streets of Boston to frolicking in foam in Haverhill, your options for participating in a Boston mud run in 2014 are nearly limitless.

Take my advice: Hold off on buying a new outfit for these events – you’re not likely to ever don it again. However, if you are so inclined, head over to the local Goodwill. There’s sure to be a graphic tee calling your name.
