Admit it – when there’s snow on the ground and you’re forced to wear layers upon layers of clothing, there’s only one food you crave (read: lust after) and that’s comfort food.

Last night, was no exception. With horizontal snow and blustery, cold weather – it was downright miserable out there. Which is why I needed to chow down on some warm, snow day grub – STAT. And despite the weather, plenty of people could be spotted in the Seaport District’s Strega Waterfront, sipping a much-needed after work drink and eating a grand dinner.

Skewed more towards fresh seafood options, the Strega Waterfront menu differed slightly from Strega Ristorante in the North End. And despite having numerous, upscale Italian dinner options to choose from, our dish decision was an easy one: Macaroni & cheese with lobster meat.

The photo of the comfort food porn (above) should say it all. The warm, buttery lobster meat couldn’t have been a more perfect accompaniment to the noodles, which were topped with breadcrumbs and truffles. I had no problem licking the plate clean and am not embarrassed to say that I would do it again.

It truly was the perfect New England-style comfort dish. The Macaroni and Cheese dish is served as a special on Wednesday nights – although you can request it on a different night as well. In addition, we ordered the deep sea scallops (below) sauteed with Grand Marnier, as an appetizer. They were, of course, perfectly cooked with a sweet, orange, citrus flavor.

It may not have been where you expected to find your new favorite comfort food dish but trust me – you won’t be disappointed with these Strega Waterfront dishes.
