The Super Bowl is upon us, taking place this Sunday, February 2nd, and that can only mean one thing – no, not the trifecta of football, halftime show, and commercials – the Puppy Bowl is coming back. Prepare to be overcome by cuteness!

If sports don’t exactly get your motor running, you have more to do than indulge in festive snacking and complaining this Sunday. It’s the 10th annual Puppy Bowl, and this year’s premiere puppy-run sporting event is sure to be as adorable as ever, featuring “terrier tackles, touchdowns, puppy penalties, fumbles and Fido first downs,” according to Animal Planet, the network that takes us on this wild ride every year.

Add in the Kitty Halftime Show starring the Karaoke Cat and sideline reporting from Meep the Bird, and we have a sporting event that I can actually get behind.

This year’s all-star, all-puppy lineup – with one puppy, Wyatt, hailing from New England – is ready to bring the heat this weekend, and we’ve got the deets on our canine athletes. Animal Planet has dutifully provided us with each players stats, but we’re keen on the playful fun facts that give the doggies their true character.

Who knew puppies had such big dreams and strong opinions on Kanye and Miley?

Watch the Puppy Bowl X pump-up video below and read on to get the scoop on this year’s pups. Now when people ask you if you’re excited for this Sunday even though the Patriots aren’t in the game, you’ll be able to give a whole-hearted yes.
