We may have been a tad harsh on Dunkin’ Donuts Red Velvet Latte but when it comes to breakfast foods (and donuts, in general), we’re on-board 100 percent. And last week’s Valentine’s Day-inspired donut debut was no exception. Gleeful cheers and anxious sweet tooths welcomed the premiere of the two new Dunkin heart-shaped donuts, which also happened to collide with the Super Bowl. No complaints, as this is the best time to get your gluttony on (sans judgment).

So, of course we decided to try Dunkin’ Donuts Valentine heart shaped treats – as both the Cookie Dough Donut and the Brownie Batter Donut flavors looked too good to pass up.

The first donut we tried, the Brownie Batter Donut, was filled with a brownie batter-like cream. Doused in chocolate icing and then smothered in sprinkles, this donut was especially sweet (think: sugar high). The inside was oozing with chocolate cream. One bite and my mouth and fingers were covered in the gooey goodness.

Word of advice: Avoid looking like a pig in front of your coworkers by downing this donut in private.

As for the Cookie Dough Donut (below), it consisted of a buttercream filling that – if we’re being honest – wasn’t too impressive. Yes, it’s sweet and topped with tiny chocolate chips and chocolate icing, but the filling itself wasn’t very filling. One bite and the buttercream was all gone.

Though totally worth the $1, these donuts should probably come with a diabetes warning label on the box.

Both donuts will be available at Dunkin’ Donuts through the month of February. Everything in moderation, people!
