[UPDATE: 8:30 a.m.] Good morning, Boston (and everyone around the world). Sexy Rexy is approaching the city’s doorstep and could start producing snow in the area as soon as 11 a.m.

A Winter Storm Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. tonight. Snow could accumulate up to 3 to 5 inches.

Right now, in Boston, temps are hovering in the high teens, topping out in the low 20s. Highs will reach the mid-to-upper 30s later this afternoon, which should cause snow to mix with rain. It looks like the worst stretch of Winter Storm Rex will come between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to Weather.com.

[UPDATE: 6:40 p.m.] Taunton’s National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Advisory for snow, in effect from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Impacted areas include, points south of the I-95 corridor, through Boston to southeast New Hampshire.

As much as 3 to 5 inches of snow is expected in those areas throughout the day. Winter Storm Rex is expected to hit around mid-morning. Snow could be heavy at times, and winds could gust up to 20 mph.

Visibilities could be reduced to one-half-mile or less, Dennis Nedry style.

[Update: 4:30 p.m.] The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Northern Worcester, in effect from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Other impacted areas include Central Middlesex County, Western Essex, and Northwest Middlesex County.

Heavy snow is expected to hit around around mid-morning. Snow could accumulate between 6 and 8 inches, during a 12 hour period tomorrow.

Easterly winds are expected to range from 5 mph to 10 mph.

[Update: 4:00 p.m.] Weather.com reports that Winter Storm Rex has produced thundersnow in the Midwest. Again, Rex isn’t suppose to cripple the Northeast when it hits tomorrow, but thundersnow doesn’t sound too great. Just ask Jim Cantore (watch: above).

[UPDATE: 9:45 a.m.] Tomorrow’s storm has been named Rex, like the dinosaur with vicious teeth and awkward arms.

The latest update from Weather.com indicates that, in general, the Northeast will receive about 1 to 3 inches of snow tomorrow. However, Maine and New Hampshire could see totals above six inches.

Snow will begin in New England tomorrow morning and fall for 6 to 12 hours most places before coming to an end.

Coastal New England towns could see winds upwards of 30 mph.

Logan Airport could face some delays tomorrow, as Rex annoys the region.

Saturday night’s snow storm has come and gone, so it’s on to the next one: more snow is expect to hit Boston Tuesday morning, February 18.

The latest accuweather.com forecast is calling for an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow in the Boston area Tuesday. Though not expected to be a severe storm, snowfall could make for slick commutes and disrupt flights, especially in the afternoon and evening.

The storm will blanket the majority of the midwest Monday, before making it’s way to the Northeast overnight, into Tuesday. Heaviest snowfall is expected in the Great Lakes region.

In all bad comes good, however. After this batch of winter weather moves the region, the rest of the week looks to be relatively snow-free with temperatures approaching 50 degrees.

Temperatures are expected in the 40s Wednesday and Thursday, and could approach 50 degrees by Friday.

So, with the exception of some stubborn snowfall on Tuesday and perhaps some leftover rain/snow mix on Wednesday, Boston could be in store for pleasant weather as next weekend approaches.
