USA Today recently published a guide to visiting Boston for hipsters. Although I may not be much of a self-proclaimed hipster, myself, I will say that this list doesn’t exactly seem too hipster to me. But what do I know – Let’s take a look, shall we?

Eating

USA Today recommends visitors go to Asta, Row 34, Trade, and Eastern Standard, where “if you think that’s Bruno Mars in the next red leather booth, it probably is.” Um, we have news for you – it probably isn’t. Not only that, but do hipsters even like Bruno Mars, anymore? Also, good luck getting those reservations at Row 34 – as far as I know the wait list for walk-ins is out-the-wazoo long.

Activities

“To get the vibe,” USA Today recommends doing “an unofficial ‘Hahvahd Tour,’ and laugh out loud as you are escorted around campus by Harvard students working from a well-written script.” I’m not going to lie here – that doesn’t sound fun at all. They do, however, suggest the ICA, which I also recommend, hipster or no hipster.

Nightlife

“The epicenter for Boston’s cocktail culture is Drink, in the trendy Fort Point neighborhood.” Maybe – but not for hipsters. The site also recommends that hipsters visit “the new Brew and Gather in District Hall, the hub of Boston’s innovative Seaport-area Innovation District.” So, apparently hipsters really love nightlife in the Seaport district. Except – they don’t.

No Allston, really?

Shopping

Then USA Today goes into “shopping” as a hipster in Boston. They recommend the Harvard Book Store and Boston’s trendy Newbury Street. I’m sorry, but a hipster is way too cool to be caught dead brunching and shopping on Newbury Street. Although, that would be ironic, I suppose.

Under the Radar

And finally, the hipster guide recommends checking out Kendall Square, which “is the newly hip neighborhood on the Cambridge side of the Charles River. Google, Amazon and Microsoft have all moved in to take advantage of MIT brainpower and the result is geek meets trendy.”

Wait – before I go any further – why would hipsters read this USA Today article anyway? They don’t give a f*ck.
