Boston’s LEGOLAND Discovery Center is set for a May 23 grand opening, a few miles down the road, at Somerville’s burgeoning Assembly Square. The LEGO brand, though, appears to be scorching hot. While fans won’t be able to visit LDC Boston for another couple of months, a photo tour featuring digital renderings could provide a temporary fix.

Last October, Merlin Entertainments Group broke ground on the $2.8 million LDC Boston site, at Assembly Square. Since, a number of public events have added to the hype surrounding LDC Boston: MINILAND voting, an online Master Model Builder application process, and January’s Brick Factor competition.

Well, people voted to have a Boston Public Library replica built for MINILAND; New Yorker Ian Coffey won Brick Factor, becoming LDC Boston’s Master Model Builder; and, of course, The LEGO Movie hit theaters in February, earning a casual 96 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating.

So, yeah. LEGO is cool. And LDC Boston looks like it will turn out quite nicely, once construction is complete. Take a look at what’s to come; we promise…
