Tomorrow marks another Southie St. Patrick’s Day parade. Irish or not – plenty of Boston residents (almost 1 million to be exact) plan to cram the T, bike or walk numerous miles to catch all of the Sunday Funday action happening in South Boston.

Not only is the parade the second largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the country – but it’s also one of the biggest drinking days in Boston (at least, we think so). And if you planning on heading to the parade, you should know that there are numerous taverns, pubs and bars to choose from. To help make your planning a little easier, we’ve rounded just a few of Southie’s best bars for your Sunday. All of which are either on or near the parade route.

And for more details and information about this year’s St. Paddy’s parade, here’s everything (else) you need to know about this Sunday.

Amrheins Restaurant

A South Boston restaurant right off the parade route, where you can get your lobster fix. We recommend trying their decadent lobster mac and cheese.

Boston Beer Garden

For a Southie Sunday Funday, hit up Boston Beer Garden. Besides the obvious – beer – this joint also serves up Southie approved cocktails for some serious drinking.

Franklin Southie

Imbibe on local microbrews while snacking on some “Modern American cuisine” at The Franklin Cafe.

The Junction

One of the best bars in South Boston, this place offers 12 beers on tap, a full bar and food specials.

L Street Tavern

If you liked the movie “Good Will Hunting” then you’ll love this neighborhood bar. Not only was the movie shot here but there’s also plenty of cheap beers and good times to be had.

Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant

This lively Southie bar serves up great food and plenty of booze. If want to avoid the sports bar atmosphere, we recommend hitting up this classy restaurant.

Local 149

Local 149 will be serving up brunch this St. Patrick’s Day and will also be open this Sunday. We recommend heading to this Southie bar for some chicken and waffles, or their Sunday bolognese special.

Playwright Restaurant & Bar

This neighborhood bar offers a sports bar atmosphere with plenty of food and beer options. If you’re looking for good bar food and a comfortable environment, we recommend this joint.

Shenannigans Irish Pub

Stop by this authentic Irish bar during the parade for burgers, Guinness and more.

STATS Bar & Grille

Not only is Stats a great place for a drink and some parade-watching, but the bar is also open for a St. Patrick’s Day brunch on Monday.

Stephi’s in Southie

If you’re looking to keep it classy in Southie this St. Patrick’s Day, we recommend trying Stephi’s in Southie. The restaurant offers sophisticated comfort food and plenty of cocktails.
