Fresh air, a cold beer or crisp cocktail and a tasty spread are all signs of both happiness, and spring. After much anticipation, a hefty handful of restaurants have opened their patios for diners to enjoy both their booze and food along with the breeze.

This basically means that summer is here.

While not all patios in Boston are officially open for the season, we gathered the ones that are (weather permitting, of course). But as the highs are set to creep toward 70 and not a drop of rain can be found in the forecast, we think it’s the perfect time to switch your heavy coat for a lighter jacket and enjoy your brunch, lunch or dinner outdoors this weekend.

Whether you want to enjoy a view of the Boston waterfront, taste test one of the city’s newest menus while outdoors, or people watch on Newbury Street, these patios come in all shapes, sizes and situations. These, of course, aren’t all of Boston’s outdoor dining areas, just the ones that are open and ready to go this weekend.

Really, do you need anymore convincing? Patios are back in action!
