Looking for a new spot in Boston to meet for drinks or a bite to eat? Look no further, especially if you work in the Financial District. Bostonia Public House is officially open on State Street, in the former Kitty O’Shea’s space. Specializing in “casual elegance,” the bar and restaurant is definitely an upgrade from the bars previously associated with the area in the historic Board of Trade building.

Led by John Fitzgerald (formerly of the Somers Pubs restaurant group) and Executive Chef Kyle Ketchum, the restaurant will specialize in reinvented Boston classics: Think gourmet baked beans, lobster rolls, clam chowder and Bostonia Cream Pie. Also served is rustic inspired fare, with options like tuna crudo and bourbon glazed sweet potato donuts taking the menu to the next level.

As for drinks? Wine lovers, prepare to rejoice. The bar, helmed by Beverage Manager Joe Corrado, features an “unparalleled wine list,” with 45 varieties by the glass meant for guests to sip and sample. Martinis and beers also populate the drink menu, which can be found at the two bars in the space, including one 110-foot walnut bar.

Designed by HGTV’s Taniya Nayak, the space evokes a feeling similar to a “Boston postcard” with sepia hues and historical maps dotting the walls. With two floors, the downstairs serves as a bustling area for lunch and dinner service, while the upstairs provides a quieter retreat, with space for gatherings and squishy leather couches.

In addition to the bar and restaurant service, Bostonia Public House hosts live, in-house music seven nights a week, beginning around 5 p.m. Anchored around a piano located in the center of the first floor bar, the sounds serves as a finishing touch on the restaurant’s “casual elegance” atmosphere.

Bostonia Public House is a gorgeous, much-needed addition to the Financial District. But, don’t take it from us. Take a look inside the space below, before planning your visit.
