It looks as though East Boston could be getting a new restaurant in its future. Philip Frattaroli, owner of Ducali Pizzeria & Bar, a popular North End pizza restaurant, tweeted last night that he was “proposing a new restaurant tonight” at a Jeffries Point Neighborhood Association Meeting in East Boston.

The tweet also included a 1974 photo of his father’s “first spot” in East Boston. According to Eastienow.com, the Jeffries Neighborhood Association Meeting did meet last night for a May planning and zoning meeting focusing on residential development. On the agenda, a line item included “Oscar Woodworking, 47 Webster Street proposed commercial development (1st meeting).” Considering that the restaurateur also tweeted a photo yesterday of his grandparents’ East Boston woodshop called Oscar Woodworking (below), we suspect this could be the proposed location for his new restaurant.

Boston.com has described the restaurateur as a “scion of the Italian immigrant family that owns Lucia Ristorante & Bar , Artu Rosticceria & Trattoria, Filippo Ristorante, and… Ward 8 Restaurant & Bar.”
We have reached out to Frattaroli and will be sure to keep you updated as we learn more about the new proposed restaurant development.
[Updated May 22, 2014: BostInno spoke with Frattaroli this morning and confirmed that he is indeed looking to purchase his grandfather’s building. He tells BostInno that he plans to add a 4th floor to the three story building, with a restaurant, yoga studio, residential floor and rooftop garden. He tells us that he isn’t sure what the restaurant concept will be yet – only that he wants it to be a “neighborhood restaurant where people can afford to go to a few times a month.”]
