Back in April, BostInno reported that funding for a community path as part of the Green Line Extension project had been reached its funding goal. As the project continues to inch closer to completion, though, MassDOT released a virtual simulation on Friday of what we can expect from the path.

The community path – which will service bikers, runners, pedestrians and essentially anything not a motor vehicle – will span from Somerville to Cambridge, stringing together four brand new Green Line stations along the way, a total of 1.9 miles.

According to MassBike, the virtual bike ride begins  at Lechmere Station and heads over a collection of bridges and underneath a bevy of underpasses, eventually coming to an end at the current terminus at Lowell Street in Somerville.

A public forum is scheduled for May 14 during which MassDOT will continue to engage the community and review the latest design plans for the community path. More information about the project is available on the Green Line Extension website.
