Here in New England, we love our food trucks. And fortunately for us, the mobile eats season is just getting started. This weekend marks the first Food Truck Festival of New England in Somerville at Assembly Row – and with a great weather forecast (so far), it’s sure to be a hit.

Fortunately, there’s one filmmaker in Boston who has created the perfect film to get you in the food truck-hopping mood this summer. Mike Irving of Mike Irving Media tells us that he produced, directed and shot this mini-documentary, Food on Wheels, with “no money at all.”

Irving tells BostInno in an email that he followed Boston food trucks for three months, “ate a lot of food and whipped up this yummy food flick.” The short film documents what it’s like to work on a food truck, lending insight into the mobile eats industry.

Irving went behind the scenes – filming in kitchens, interviewing food truck owners and employees. Granted, the documentary is only a 12 minute film, but it certainly packs plenty of information into the short segment.

In the video, food truck owners discuss the challenges of running a food truck start-up including how they deal with inclement weather, working in small spaces, and building their brand. It also shows the bond shared within the food truck community.

Food trucks that are featured in the mini-doc include Bon Me, Clover Food Lab, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese and more.

BostInno has reached out Mike Irving for further comment on the mini-doc and will update the post when we hear back.
