T-Riders can now enjoy WiFi on MBTA Green Line subway platforms. On Tuesday, Comcast activated Xfinity hotspots on all underground platforms, from Kenmore to North Station, in preparation for the Fourth of July.

“America’s oldest subway has now become one of the very first to offer customers high speed Internet access on century-old train platforms,” said MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott in a statement. “With the introduction of Wi-Fi service at Green Line stations, hundreds of thousands of T riders can stay connected preparing for their daily commutes.”

For newbies, underground Green Line stations include: North Station, Haymarket, Park Street, Boylston, Arlington, Copley, Prudential, Symphony, Hynes Convention Center and Kenmore, (Government Center, as readers are all too aware, is closed for the next two years).

“We’re proud to extend the nation’s largest and fastest Wi-Fi network to serve our customers in some of the MBTA’s busiest stations,” said Comcast Greater Boston Region SVP Steve Hackley.

Most Xfinity Internet customers can access WiFi hotspots for free by opening up a list of available networks on their smartphones and laptops and entering their Comcast ID or email–password combination. The Xfinity Wifi app is available on Android and IOS devices. For a complete list of available Xfinity hotspots, click here.
