With Arthur looming off the East Coast, the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on the Esplanade has been rescheduled for Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. And, with Boston effectively celebrating the Fourth of July on July 3 – which is actually closer to America’s true Independence Day – the MBTA, state and city officials have had to make some tweaks of their own.

Here’s a rundown of what you need to know.

MBTA July 3 schedule:

For the most part, the T’s original July 4 schedule will remain in effect Thursday, with some minor changes:

– All subway lines will operate regular weekday schedules, and rush hour will service will start at 2 p.m.; all lines will run on a Sunday schedule July 4.
– The ban on bikes aboard subways for the entire day, inbound commuter rail trains between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and outbound commuter rail trains after 4 p.m. will remain in effect Friday; no such ban will be imposed Thursday.
– All T rides on any mode of transit will be free after 9:30 p.m. Thursday night – rather than Friday night.
– Commuter rail trains will operate regular weekday schedules, meaning all lines will be in service; Sunday schedules remain in effect for Friday.
– Buses and trackless trolleys will also run regular weekday service today, with Sunday schedules still in place for The Fourth.
– The RIDE and Boat service will operate weekday schedules Thursday, with original July 4 schedule tweaks remaining in place for Friday.
– All MBTA parking garages will be pay-on-entry starting at 12 p.m. Thursday.

State Police road closures and event schedule:
Officials decided Wednesday afternoon to move the Esplanade fireworks from Friday to Thursday, so:

– Storrow Drive will close at noon Thursday
– Memorial Drive, the Mass Ave Bridge and Longfellow Bridge will close at 6:00 p.m.
– Those making their way to the fireworks display will be allowed to enter Esplanade security checkpoints at 5 p.m.
– Weather permitting, the show will commence at 8:30 p.m.
– Officials will consider pushing the Boston Pops Firework Spectacular to Saturday, July 5, if tonight is a wash.
