Back in May, Uniqlo dropped a retail bombshell on Boston. We knew they were in the market to open up a store in the city, but it turned out that the brand was serious about its presence in Boston: They announced they would be opening six storefronts in the Boston area by the end of next year. For those who are familiar with the comfortable, chic basics available at Uniqlo at an affordable price, this was music to your ears (and perhaps groans in your wallets). Now, after much anticipation, Uniqlo’s first foray into the Boston market is just days from opening.

Uniqlo’s Faneuil Hall pop-up shop, a temporary outpost while nearby stores prepare to launch, will open on Tuesday, July 22. After almost a month’s delay, locals and tourists alike will get to shop Uniqlo’s staple items and designer collections with ease. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays, and it’s not clearly stated when the pop-up will close as other stores pop up.

More Uniqlos can be found later this year at the Natick Collection, the Mall at Chestnut Hill, the Northshore Mall and Legacy Place. Next year, a permanent Faneuil Hall outpost will open following the initial pop-up store, as well as a flagship store at 341 Newbury Street.

As if six new stores in and around the city weren’t enough of indication, Uniqlo seems thrilled to be entering the Boston market. The company’s already an official sponsor of the Boston Red Sox, and in the wake of CEO Larry Meyer’s appearance at BostInno’s State of Innovation in June, we explored how the company is a perfect fit for Boston’s innovative climate.

Learn more about that here, and get ready to storm the gates once Uniqlo opens its first Boston store on Tuesday.
