No surprise here – another Todd English restaurant has closed. Boston Restaurant Talk reported today that Figs on Charles Street has “closed for at least awhile.” The article cites this Twitter post, which indicates that the “restaurant closed for renovations.” And there is now a sign on the door confirming that the popular eatery is indeed closed temporarily.

But will it reopen? Not if Figs has the same fate as English’s daughter’s, Isabelle’s Curly Cakes, had earlier this year. The cupcake shop, which also closed this year for renovations, never reopened.

Todd English’s own restaurants have not fared well either in the past few years. Boston Restaurant Talk reports that “Bonfire in Park Plaza, Kingfish Hall in Faneuil Hall, and Olives in Charlestown” have all closed shop.

But while the celebrity chef’s restaurant empire may be crumbling, we certainly hope (for pizza’s sake) that Figs closure is only temporary. The wood-fired pizza bistro is, without a doubt, a neighborhood favorite. Boston Restaurant Talk also reports that the Figs location in Charlestown is still open. We’ll be sure to update the story as we learn more about the fate of Figs.

[Update July 25: Boston Restaurant Talk reported that Figs will apparently reopen soon. That’s according to the restaurant’s Facebook page which states that “Figs on Beacon Hill will be temporarily closed this week for a few days while we take care of some minor repairs. We’ll be back in action in no time and we will keep you posted.” Breathe a sigh of relief, people!]
