Your Pepe’s Pizza wait is almost over! Eater Boston reported today that the New Haven pizzeria will be taking “over the space of The Fireplace in Brookline” per a release. And while we’re sad to see the cozy Washington Square restaurant go (love their comfy atmosphere), we’re overjoyed at the thought of a Pepe’s Pizza so close to home.

The pizza chain was founded in 1925 by Frank Pepe and is “one of the oldest and best-known pizzerias in the United States,” states their website. Pepe’s now has restaurants in New Haven, Fairfield, Manchester and Danbury, CT, Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville and in Yonkers, NY.

Eater Boston is reporting that Pepe’s will replace The Fireplace after the restaurant closes on December 31, 2014. Chef and owner of The Fireplace, Jeff Solomon, will be transitioning full-time to his catering business. Solomon says in a press release published on Eater Boston that “… it is a dream to transfer our lease to Pepe’s to let them build a new tradition here, and for them to introduce their outstanding product to Bostonians. I will be a frequent customer.”

Pepe’s Pizza is known for its signature pizza, the White Clam Pizza. The pizza pie is served with fresh clams, cheese, olive oil, and garlic. For a look at their other phenomenal pizzas, check out the full menu here.

We’ll be sure to bring you more information as we learn more about Pepe’s opening in Brookline. Until then – get excited for some coal-fired oven pizzas coming your way soon!
