Public outrage over the elevator video of Desmond Hague, CEO of food and beverage catering company Centerplate, kicking a dog has culminated in the now disgraced executive resigning, according to multiple reports on Tuesday morning.

The video, seen above, shows Hague kicking a Doberman Pinscher and dragging it on a leash while the two were in an elevator. Hague, who has overseen the company during a period of success (it has won several awards for catering at NFL, MLS, and college football games as well as ski resorts), was not able to overcome the rising wave of public outrage at his action towards the dog.

Despite donating $100,000, establishing a dog foundation (named “Sade,” after the dog that he kicked), and doing 1000 hours of community service, which was mandated by the Centerplate board of directors, Hague could not continue in an effective role as CEO.

A Change.org petition received more than 180,000 signatures, and boycotts of Centerplate services were occurring, as described in the video. His resignation proves once again that if there is one thing that cannot be messed with in society, it’s the treatment of dogs.
